Last week Tulkinghorn reported on a team of CMS Cameron McKenna technology and media lawyers cycling to Paris and back for charity. It sounded tiring and difficult and reminded Tulkinghorn of something like hard work.
But those competitive US firms are not to be outdone when it comes to exertion. One of Tulkinghorn’s scribes has heard that a team of lawyers from Jones Day has seen the Camerons lawyers’ cycle ride and raised them a couple of marathons.
The group ran the Paris Marathon, cycled 300 miles to London and then ran in the London Marathon the very next week. The exhausted lawyers then took part in a charity auction at Jones Day’s Tudor Street offices, selling off things such as Sienna Miller’s handbag.
In total they raised a very respectable £110,000 and were actually less tired than they would have been working the week at Jones Day London.
Tulkinghorn wouldn’t be surprised if Camerons struck back with a plan to force all trainees to jog to the firm’s Moscow office wearing antique suits of armour. All for a good cause, of course.
