Mark Harwood Williams, admitted 1977, struck off 1995, practising at material times as R H Speechley Owen & Co, London NW10, Walford & Co, London NW2, and Carruthers & Co, London WC2H. Tribunal ordered that Law Society directions in September 1994 relating to inadequate professional service on part of Williams be treated for purposes of enforcement as if orders of High Court and ordered Williams to pay £1,198 costs.

Rachel Whiteley, litigation clerk at material time with Wragge & Co, Birmingham and Wollastons, Chelmsford, banned from working for any further solicitors without written consent from Law Society. Allegations substantiated she misappropriated money from Wragge & Co and obtained salary and sick pay to which she was not entitled. She subsequently obtained employment with Wollastons by claiming to have qualifications she did not have.

Wilfred David Taylor, 53, admitted 1969, practising as Taylors, Reading, fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £2,232 costs. Allegations substantiated he failed to reply promptly or at all to letters from Solicitors Complaints Bureau and failed to comply with a Complaints Bureau direction. Tribunal said Taylor had admitted his failures. However, directions from the Complaints Bureau should be complied with promptly and persistent failure to respond to enquiries was not trivial.

Patrick Rowan Forde, 46, admitted 1975, practising until 1995 as assistant solicitor with Max Gold & Co, Hull, struck off and ordered to pay £1,071 costs. Allegations substantiated Forde was jailed for 30 months at Grimsby Crown Court in May 1995 after his conviction of conspiracy to defraud building societies. Tribunal said he should be struck off in order to protect the public and good reputation of the profession.
