Partners are often quirky, unpredictable creatures. Sometimes they can’t be beat for their loveliness, other times their behaviour just seems wrong. Take this sad story.
Recently a partner (Tulkinghorn is unable to name him for fear of violence) en route by cab with his assistant to the Royal Courts of Justice, asked whether his underling had remembered to bring an affadavit. Unfortunately, he had not. Now, in the great scheme of things, this was not a big problem. A courier could have been sent to fetch it, for instance. But not for this partner. He opened the moving cab’s door and threw out the lawyer.
Said partner soon left his firm, and then his next one too.
The moral of the tale is: patience and manners will keep you your job (you damned wonderful creatures).
