Thacher Proffitt VC takes team to Greenberg

Embattled US firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood has lost its vice chairman along with an entire office to Greenberg Traurig.

The Miami-headquartered firm has hired two former Thacher Proffitt real estate finance partners – Tom Leslie and Tom Infurna – as well as six other lawyers.

Leslie was formerly the managing partner of Thacher Proffitt’s White Plains office as well as firm-wide vice chairman. He becomes the managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s White Plains’ office.

“I have practiced law at Thacher Proffitt for a long time, and it is a fine firm,” Leslie said in a statement. “But as I look to the balance of my legal career and how best to serve my clients during changing times, I sought out a firm with a more diverse business model and broader platform.”

White Plains, 25 miles north of Manhattan, is the base of a growing number of New York City-headquartered companies as well as home to numerous high-tech firms and other major corporations in its own right.

The White Plains office will be Greenberg Traurig’s third in New York state and 28th in the US.

Thacher Proffitt did not comment.
