The Birmingham office of Russell Jones & Walker is to lose one of its three partners at the end of the year, with the departure of John McDonnell and a senior associate.
McDonnell, like his two fellow partners, is a personal injury specialist. He is leaving to set up his own firm.
“I’m sad to be losing him, but we still intend to work together in the future, and hope to refer cases to each other,” said managing partner Neil Kinsella.
In an unrelated move, Russell Jones is undergoing a firmwide business review, a policy which it now plans to adopt and implement on a yearly basis, in part to deal with the difficult nature of the personal injury (PI) market.
“The PI world is changing and we need to be prepared for that,” said Kinsella.
However, Kinsella said there were no proposals at this stage to make any redundancies. Earlier this year Russell Jones made 13 staff redundant when it closed its Leeds office.
