Birmingham-based firm Martineau Johnson has lost Matthew Hansell, the head of its private client department, to Mills & Reeve.
The terms of Hansell’s departure are still being negotiated but Martineaus have requested that he work out his full year’s notice.
The move is a serious blow to Martineaus, which lost the head of its education department to Pinsents in May. Additionally, London-based education partner Rachel Woolf left the firm in the summer.
Mills & Reeves’ managing partner Mark Jeffries said: “The recruitment is part of our strategy to develop, in Birmingham some of the service lines that we have a national reputation in.”
Private client partner Keith Dudley has replaced Hansell as head of the department with immediate effect.
