Masons has hired DJ Freeman’s former head of employment Jane Moorman as part of a major expansion of its employment team.
Masons recently launched an employment team in Glasgow and has plans to increase its national presence still further.
Employment head Michael Ryley told The Lawyer: “If we bring in high-profile lateral hires, that sends a message to the market. There’s only so far that you can grow organically. And we’re also looking at other regional markets, which we can exploit from our national offices.”
Moorman quit DJ Freeman when the firm was split between a group of partners joining Olswang and those remaining to become Kendall Freeman. She made her name acting for clients such as Thames Television and the Royal Opera House. Recently she has been involved in acting for various brokers in litigation with Cantor Fitzgerald.
The employment team was launched five years ago, heavily leveraging off the firm’s IT and construction practices, but has begun to branch out on the back of recent client wins such as BOC, Dolce & Gabbana and Bureau Veritas.
