BLM takes on Jacksons’ insurance arm

The seven-partner insurance department of North-East firm Jacksons, which this year announced it was splitting in two, has found a new home with Berrymans Lace Mawer (BLM).

Jacksons announced in May that it was splitting its two core areas – business/ insurance and commercial/private client – into two firms (The Lawyer, 26 May 2003).

The 10-partner commercial and private client practice has remained independent and is keeping the Jacksons name.

BLM approached Jack-sons’ insurance arm as both are panel firms for insurers Norwich Union and Axa.

The Jacksons insurance practice, comprising five equity partners and two salaried partners and based in Stockton-on-Tees, gives Berrymans its seventh national office and brings the firm’s partner count to 90.

Richard Clarke of Jacksons’ insurance practice will join BLM’s senior partners’ forum.
