The new Estonian ambassador to England, Raul Malk, is to make an official visit to Gloucestershire, in recognition of the efforts a local firm has made to boost trade with the emerging Baltic state.
The ambassador will visit the county on 11 and 12 February to meet existing and potential investors, who have been developed through Cheltenham firm Bretherton Price Woods.
A spokesman for the Estonian embassy said the firm had “introduced key political and business players, who are leading to trade and inward investment in Estonia”.
He said that Gloucestershire had become a “centre of excellence” for Estonia and that the visit was designed to “build upon and continue this good relationship”.
John Beevor, the driving force behind the Brethertons Estonian initiative, has made several visits to the state to meet government decision-makers and to discuss the formulation of the country's laws.
“We are hoping our involvement with Estonia will develop. We envisage trade with the UK will double in the next couple of years and we are in a unique position to advise on it,” he said.
