Leading corporate partner Glenda Turner has left newly merged Manchester and Leeds firm Addleshaw Booth & Co to join Manchester firm Turner Parkinson as the fifth partner.

She said: “The timing was right. Addleshaws was growing very big, which means no matter how hard the firm tries, people do not always feel informed about what is going on in the management committee.

“I am looking forward to a new challenge at Turner Parkinson, which is a unique firm amid all the merger mania that is going on.

She added: “I am joining at the start of a firm and will have more control in management.”

Turner Parkinson was created two years ago by Richard Parkinson, formerly of Cobbetts and Addleshaws, Phil Turner, formerly of Addleshaws and Malcolm Hunnisett, formerly of Kuit Steinart Levy.

Parkinson said he had been “trying to get Glenda to join up for years” and that the firm's philosophy was to provide clients with the “same people as the big law firms, but at a much lower cost”.

“We have a flat charge-out fee of £100 per hour, so owner-managed businesses can afford us. And because we don't have hundreds of associates to pass work on to, so the client can always be sure that what he sees is what he gets,” he said.
