Garrett & Co has revealed plans to open a Cambridge office in the New Year following its recruitment of a corporate lawyer who was based there.
Gerry Fitzsimons has joined Garrett & Co from Taylor Vinters, where he was a partner, with a brief to exploit the East Anglian market.
And although he will be initially based at the company's Reading office he may soon be setting up a new office in Cambridge.
Garrett & Co managing partner Julia Chain said that although there were no concrete plans for a new office it was “quite likely” that one would be established in the New Year.
At Taylor Vinters, Fitzsimons had been increasingly involved with advising companies on corporate finance.
He said that his move to Garretts would enable him to specialise in the corporate finance area.
Herbert Robinson, chair of Taylor Vinters, said that Fitzsimons departure from the firm had been an amicable one.
“This is a unique opportunity for Gerry and, although we regret his departure, we fully understand his reasons for wanting to operate exclusively in his chosen area,” he said.
“We will be recruiting a very high level replacement in order to continue the expansion of our company commercial activities.”
