Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw (MBR&W) has posted a record turnover of $979m (£559.9m) for 2005, a rise of more than 7 per cent on the previous year’s total of $911m (£521m).
If profit per equity partner rises at the same level, it will increase to $968,000 (£554,000). The announcement follows a strong performance by the London office. As first reported by The Lawyer (30 January), London turnover rose some 5 per cent to £83m and net profit skyrocketed from £18m to £25m in 2005.
The firm was busy strengthening its European network in 2005. At the end of the year it signed an alliance with Italy’s Studio Legale Tonucci. It also swooped on Coudert Brothers, hiring partner Paulette Vander Schueren and two other lawyers, and raided White & Case for two partners for its Berlin office.
