Transport for London (TfL) has recruited from its in-house team to replace director of compliance Gareth John, who left for Sodexo in January.

Andrea Clarke, who is currently manager of TfL’s commercial law team, will take up the post in May.

She will lead a 30-strong legal team and will report to general counsel Howard Carter.

John was director of compliance at TfL for four years. He left to take up the general counsel role at management services provider Sodexo, which has just appointed Eversheds as sole employment law adviser.

TfL last reviewed its panel in 2007, when it selected Ashurst, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Bird & Bird, Clifford Chance, Eversheds, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith, K&L Gates, Manches, Simmons & Simmons, Travers Smith and Wragge & Co. The next panel review is due in 2011.
