In 2007 DLA Piper acted for T-Mobile when, along with Rim, it defended claims brought by InPro Licensing in the US.
Rim is facing major patent litigation from DLA Piper client Motorola and sought an injunction from the High Court to force DLA Piper to put buffer zones between the partners acting for Motorola and those who acted for T-Mobile.
DLA Piper’s management initially refused to put blocks in place, leading to A&O litigation partner Nicola Dagg lodging a claim on Rim’s behalf.
The claim was withdrawn last week after DLA Piper agreed to put in place safeguards that met Rim’s approval.
A spokesperson from DLA Piper said: “Rim sought an injunction to prevent us from acting for our client Motorola in relation to a specific matter.
“The issue has now been resolved and we continue to act for Motorola in relation to that ongoing matter.”
