Cheshire-based SAS Daniels is to merge with Chester-based commercial firm Richards Lee to make it the largest firm in Cheshire.

Richards Lee’s commercial capability and its Chester office made it a clear target for SAS Daniels, which wanted an office in the town.

“This merger will allow us to increase our commercial offering and places us in all key regions in Cheshire,” said SAS Daniels managing partner Nigel Haddon. “This repositions us as the Cheshire law firm.”

The merger is slated for completion in February 2008, with Haddon planning to locate a family law and probate team in the newly acquired office in Whitefriars, Chester.

SAS Daniels, which is the result of a merger between SAS Lawyers and Daniels Solicitors in June last year, is also not discounting further mergers.

“We’re ready to look again for another firm before the end of 2008, but will focus our energy on Chester for the next six to nine months,” he said.
