Slaughters undergoes changes at the top

Slaughter and May head of tax Steve Edge has stood down and will be replaced by Tony Beare. Head of finance Richard Slater also intends to stand down, and head of corporate Nigel Boardman recently announced that he would give up his position because “eight years of counting paperclips is enough”. Slaughters’ annual appointments to the management board will proceed as usual this year. Of the 10 positions, some are elected, but most are given automatically to particular heads of practice groups. The management board has far less power than the management of other firms, because at Slaughters equity partners still vote on most issues.
