London property set Falcon Chambers has parted company with senior clerk Mark Clewley on.
The set has chosen not to appoint first deputy Steven Francis, who is currently the acting senior clerk, as the successor, despite his long service under Clewley.
Head of chambers Jonathan Gaunt QC says: “We're all sorry to see Mark go, chambers is very grateful for the contribution he's made to its development over the years.”
The reason behind Clewley's departure is not clear, but he has been with the 28-tenant set for around 26 years. A source close to the set reveals that he has been absent from chambers for some time. In a statement issued by Falcon, Clewley says: “I've enjoyed my time at Falcon Chambers, helping to build it into an independently recognised leading property set. Now is a good time to move on to new challenges.”
Chambers director Edith Robertson was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
