Edwin Coe bags Taylor Wessing coms partner

Taylor Wessing has been left without a telecoms partner in its London office after Ted Mercer signalled his intention to quit for Edwin Coe.

Mercer joined the TMT-focused firm in 1996 and led its IT and telecoms group for 11 years. He said he was joining Edwin Coe because it is a “better fit” for him and his clients.

“It has a lower cost base, a flatter management structure and an appealing entrepreneurial approach,” Mercer added.

In the past 12 months Edwin Coe has recruited six new partners, including employment specialist David Evans from White & Case and corporate partner Nick Williams from Hammonds.

Glyn Morgan, head of technology at Taylor Wessing, said Mercer had made a “significant contribution” to the firm and wished him well. Morgan added that the firm would be announcing the arrival of a new telecoms partner shortly.
