Top media and entertainment boutique Wiggin is mulling over plans to create an of counsel role to give its associates the option of an alternative career path.

The 11 partners have been discussing plans to provide their lawyers with different career choices, but with no formalised structure agreed upon as yet.

Partner Miles Ketley said: “We’re very focused on the clients’ business and we’re always trying to capture and retain the best staff. This is one way of doing it.”

Wiggin recruited Olswang head of sports Michael Brader as head of corporate in July and Football Association executive director and former TV presenter David Davies joined the firm as a consultant in May.

The discussions follow similar moves at City firms, including Herbert Smith, which launches its of counsel position this month.
