Quadrant Chambers has elected Lionel Persey QC and Simon Rainey QC as joint heads of chambers following the recent elevation of Nigel Teare QC to the High Court.

Teare’s appointment as a High Court judge was announced on 1 August. The fourth new judge appointed to the High Court this year.

Persey and Rainey are both shipping specialists. They said they plan to continue the development of Quadrant’s expertise in marine and aviation law.

However, the set will also carry on expanding in other practice areas, including general commercial litigation, arbitration and mediation.

In recent years Quadrant, which used to be called 4 Essex Court, has grown to 43 members and turns over almost £15m.

In July this year juniors Nigel Jacobs and David Goldstone were appointed silk.
