There was a jolly good show from Norton Rose‘s polo team in the recent Pro-Am City Polo Championships. Three Norton Rose lawyers – Fiona Reilly, Raphael Singh and Peter Pollak – were joined for the day bythe stereotypically named polo professional Tarquin Southwell.

The team fought through to the sub-final of their category but was beaten narrowly by half a goal by Citigroup, which had a higher rating under polo rules. Spectators reported an exciting and close match.

The inclusion of Southwell was a bit of a coup for the Norton Rose team. Each team playing was allowed one professional player to help their chances, but Norton Rose bagged the polo playing crumpet Southwell, whose real claim to fame was a spell as Jodie Kidd’s paramour.

Norton Rose was the only firm to participate. Surely there are more chukka-loving lawyers out there to represent the profession next year?
