Spanish independent firm Pérez-Llorca has boosted its tax department with the hire of Clara Jiménez from the Spanish Inland Revenue.

The firm specialises in corporate work and has seen demand rocket for tax advice on large M&A transactions, such as Banco Santander’s takeover of Abbey National and E.ON’s bid for energy company Endesa.

The firm’s managing partner Pedro Pérez-Llorca, said: “We want a tax practice with sufficient autonomy to cover all range of matters within the complexity of tax law.”

Jiménez was a revenue inspector and has 10 years of experience in tax. She has also worked in-house at Spain’s Bank Bankinter, where she was chief of the tax legal department.

Her hire follows last year’s promotion of Javier Fernández Cuenca to partner in the tax practice.
