COLLEAGUES of murdered senior partner Nigel Lightfoot have paid tribute to a “kind and generous friend”.
The Southampton legal community was left shocked by the fatal stabbing of the Lamport Bassitt senior partner last week.
The 60-year-old father-of-three was attacked after opening the front door of his family home to the assailant. He died within minutes of the attack.
Lamport Bassitt partner Sean Kelly said the firm was distressed over the killing, but was carrying on as best it could.
Kelly said: “Nigel was a kind and generous friend to us all. He was an outstanding lawyer but one who was determined to ensure that life in the office should be fun. He is irreplaceable.”
Mr Lightfoot's brother Adrian will take over as senior partner of the firm.
John Vine, of Thornhill, Southampton, was charged with the senior partner's murder and was due to appear before magistrates as The Lawyer went to press.
