A Nottinghamshire parish council is taking a former clerk to the High Court in a bid to recover more than £82,000 it alleges he stole. Farnsfield Parish Council accuses Christopher Wilkinson of receiving £82,437.25 and is seeking repayment of the money, with interest, and an account of all sums received. Wilkinson is said to have worked as the council's clerk, responsible for the administration of finances. He is accused of misapplying money by making the council issue cheques for more than the amounts properly due and then using the extra money himself. The council says the incidents leading to the claim took place between 1 April 1993 and 31 May this year. Nelsons of Nottingham is acting for the council.
