ONE hundred and fifty people gathered at the Waldorf Hotel in London last week to celebrate Brick Court Chambers' 75th anniversary
The chambers, which specialises in commercial law including shipping, insurance and banking, was founded by former Labour attorney-general and pre-eminent commercial lawyer William Jowitt.
He was soon joined by a young barrister, Patrick – now Lord – Devlin. The set began to grow rapidly soon after World War II when its oldest remaining tenant, Phillip Owen, joined. It now has 47 tenants.
Head of Chambers Christopher Clarke said: "We hope to continue to do what we've done quite successfully for quite a while," he said.
