West End firm Mishcon de Reya has hired Finers Stephens Innocent (FSI) partner Simon Hunter to head its construction team.

The newly created position will see Hunter head a team of three partners.

At FSI, Hunter led the construction practice for three years. He specialises in contentious and non-contentious issues and will form part of Mishcons’ prominent real estate group, which also involves a litigation element.

Hunter is succeeded at FSI by Mads Ekanayake, who joined the firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Mishcons was one of several to make cuts in its real estate practice in the third quarter of last year.

In September the firm announced a consultation with fee-earners in its 25-strong property team (The Lawyer, 26 September).
