Harbottle & Lewis has expanded its relationship with the BBC, advising the finalists of talent show Any Dream Will Do and winning a mandate to do the same for contestants of a reality show to be screened on BBC2 in the autumn.
The firm has created a niche for itself advising talent show contestants after advising the finalists of the BBC’s How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? last year. Both programmes involved a search to find singers for Andrew Lloyd-Webber musicals.
Harbottle theatre head Neil Adleman said: “I think what’s happened is that because of doing the Maria work, BBC Entertainment has asked us to assist on a number of projects. Any Dream Will Do is one of those projects.”
The firm has extended its links with the entertainment arm of the BBC beyond the theatre practice, bringing music head Paul Jones and corporate partner Colin Howes into the relationship.
Earlier this month Harbottle signed up Field Fisher Waterhouse communications head Tony Ballard, who also has links to the BBC.
Adleman said: “We have a mixture of existing connections with the BBC and also people joining us, so hopefully there’ll be a lot of opportunities.”
Harbottle gave general contract advice to the Any Dream Will Do contestants, as well as training on how to deal with the media.
In-house lawyers at The Really Useful Group, Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s production company, also assisted on the deal.
