Clifford Chance may be the biggest firm in the world, but that is no reason for its lawyers to be both seen and heard on weekends. One of Tulkinghorn’s Stateside scribes bumped into such a lawyer during a spot of sightseeing in the Big Apple.
While queuing to get on the Statue of Liberty ferry at the weekend, a Clifford Chancer was heard praising the New York office support staff in a very loud and slightly patronising tone.
“Honestly, the little postie and the girl who gives you coffee are really lovely – even the woman who empties the bins is very sweet,” gushed the Clifford Chance member like an extra from Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Such charm is bound to win over Manhattan.
