Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation has transferred one of its most senior lawyers from New York to London to take on the role of European and Asian legal chief.
News Corp appointed Jeffrey Palker to the role of senior vice-president, business and legal affairs, Europe and Asia today (27 August).
Palker will report to the chief financial officer for Europe and Asia, Mark Williams, who said: “I’m delighted that Jeff is joining the News Corp Europe and Asia team. His extensive experience will be invaluable to our ongoing activities across the region.”
Palker was vice-president and associate general counsel for News Corp in New York. He was particularly focused on the publishing giant’s mergers and acquisitions, including playing an important role in the acquisition of Dow Jones in 2007.
Palker will be based in London with overall responsibility for the legal affairs of News Corp’s companies in Europe and Asia. These include The Times, The Sun and BSkyB.
Prior to joining News Corp in 2004, Palker worked at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.
