Thompsons hit with £150K travellers’ action

Trade union and personal injury specialist Thompsons Solicitors is being sued for negligence by a travellers’ warden for more than £150,000.

Norfolk-based travellers’ warden Kevin Bunn claims that the firm’s former legal executive Honor Lamont breached her retainer and was negligent when dealing with his stress case against his former employer, Norfolk Property Services (NPS).

Bunn claimed that NPS actions in relation to a site used by Roma had led him to cultivate a stress-related illness.

In the claim, filed by Hatch Brenner partner Mark Fitch, Bunn claims that, while he was off with stress, NPS had not taken enough steps to inform the travellers that he was unwell, which resulted in some Roma turning up at his home.

Bunn claims Lamont said his case was worth pursuing, but a year later Lamont allegedly abandoned the case, which along with 11 other points makes the basis of the negligence case against Thompsons.

Thompsons said that with the case ongoing it could not comment at this time.
