Eversheds switch” />Electronics retailer Comet has ditched its informal legal panel and appointed Eversheds as its sole UK adviser.
Comet general counsel Richard Annett said the company, which has more than 250 stores nationwide and 10,000 employees, chose Eversheds for its retail expertise ;and ;project management skills.
“It was time for us to find a firm that could look after all of our legal requirements while providing us with certainty, control and value for money,” said Annett. “We therefore made the decision to move our legal work to a single provider that would be well placed to meet our strategic requirements.”
Paul Worth, Eversheds’ client partner for Comet, said winning the tender was significant as it reinforced the firm’s position within the retail sector.
“Our remit as a sole adviser will be extended to include all other areas of legal work, including estates, IP and branding issues,” he said.
