BT Global Services has sent a senior European lawyer to head its Latin American legal team as the company expands its operations in the region.
Dennis Grabherr, who was head of legal and regulatory for BT Global Services in Germany, has joined the Latin American group in the same role. He will be based in São Paolo.
Gordon Moir, BT Global Services general counsel for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, said: “We’re expanding heavily in the region, based on organic and inorganic growth, following our acquisition of Comsat – one of the main players in the region – last year.”
Moir added that BT Global Services is growing its client base in Latin America, which includes Italian car maker Fiat. It is now looking for a replacement for Grabherr in Germany.
The company has been fine-tuning its global legal team and in January it shifted US general counsel Kristen Verderame into a leading role at the Washington DC public affairs department.
BT Global Services is the IT services arm of the BT Group. It has a turnover of around £5bn. The group’s roster of firms consists of Addleshaw Goddard, Bird & Bird, HBJ Gateley Wareing and Linklaters.
