Pannone & Partners is reaching the end of a major project to revamp its practice-wide IT systems.
The Manchester firm began the overhaul last July and now all that remains is to attach its accounts and practice management systems to the main network.
IT partner Gareth Jessop, who has led the operation, said that the firm had set out to put all its systems on a single computer network and to give everybody in the practice a screen.
"I've shied away from an all-singing, all-dancing network. That's not really got much significance for us as lawyers. We have gone for something relatively simple," said Jessop.
The firm spent around £450,000 on a comprehensive network by Novell, comprising Netware, Managewise, Groupwise and Novell Softsolutions.
Jessop said the Novell investment replaced a variety of systems at the firm, including two small PC networks. The accounts and practice management system should be up and running within the next two months.
He said one of the immediate benefits has been the new e-mail access, both internally and with clients.
