Lau became a Richards Butler partner in November 2000 after her arrival from Chau and Chung, where she spent around 18 months.
Lau has experience of M&A, restructurings, privatisations and listings, particularly in the technology, media and telecoms (TMT) sector.
She advised First Pacific Holdings in the acquisition of an equity interest in the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), the leading fixed-line telecommunications carrier in the Philippines. Lau also advised on the strategic cooperation between PLDT and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation on their mobile and intellectual property backbone business.
Chris Howse, the senior partner of Richards Butler's Hong Office, said: “Loretta worked with us as a partner in our corporate department. She's left us to pursue a career with Simmons & Simmons, and we wish her every success in the future.”
