DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary’s US operation has caught the expansion bug and opened a new office in Atlanta.
The operation will launch with 12 litigation and finance lawyers including four partners. Mark Grantham, who will also be the managing partner, Russell Bogue and Arthur Brannan, all join from Hunton & Williams, and Tracy Plott joins from Jones Day.
Francis Burch, joint chief executive of DLA Piper said: “Entering the Atlanta market has long been a strategic goal of our firm. This initial group, led by Mark Grantham, provides an excellent base for our continued growth in the market. Atlanta is one of the last major financial centers in the country where we have not had an office and building a quality presence there is consistent with our strategy to serve institutional clients in major economic markets in a meaningful way.”
DLA Piper has an aggressive growth strategy for the new office and has signed a 46,000 sq ft lease at One Atlantic Center. The firms hopes to have 50 lawyers in the office by the end of the year.
