Former Clifford Chance arbitration consultant Pierre Mayer has joined Dechert’s Paris office, rejoining his former Coudert Brothers partners.

Mayer left Coudert for Clifford Chance in February 2004. In September 2005 Dechert announced that it was merging with the bulk of Coudert’s French office as the firm dissolved.

Joining as a partner, Mayer will work with Dechert’s French dispute resolution group which is led by ex-Coudert litigator Xavier Nyssen. Nyssen was one of six partners to join Dechert on the merger.

Mayer advises on arbitrations involving international trade, joint ventures and industrial cooperation, technology transfer, distribution and construction. He is a professor at the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris as well as being the vice president of the French Private International Law Committee.

Nyssen said Mayer’s experience would be invaluable to Dechert’s clients and lawyers.
