Slaughter and May, Allen & Overy and Davis Polk & Wardwell scored roles on the £1.21bn flotation of investment manager Ashmore, a new client for Slaughters, on the LSE. Corporate partner Jan Putnis led the team after winning the instruction in a beauty parade. Davis Polk advised on the deal’s US aspects , with corporate partner John Banes leading. Meanwhile, A&O picked a role by acting for Goldman Sachs and UBS as underwriters and US counsel. Equity capital markets partner David Broadley led the magic circle team. Ashmore specialises in emerging-market assets and has instructed Clifford Chance, most recently on the $2.1bn (£1.1bn) acquisition of Enron’s foreign-based assets through the purchase of its Prisma Energy International.
