CITY firm Denton Hall has signed up Boodle Hatfield's Anglo-Spanish law team in a drive to win work in Spanish-speaking countries.

Antonio Irastorza and his team will target both domestic and foreign clients within the corporate department.

Irastorza, who headed the Boodle's team, becomes a Denton Hall partner and brings his former colleagues Javier Lasa and Jose Manuel Larrain with him.

Boodles says the move follows a strategy re-think earlier in the year. Its outstanding Anglo-Spanish work will be taken on by other lawyers.

Irastorza is qualified in Spain and England and is experienced in a range of commercial areas. He has been with the firm since 1988.

Lasa is qualified in Spain, Larrain in Chile.

Tony Grant, head of Denton Hall's corporate group, said: “As well as the company and commercial work that Antonio will handle, the firm will be able to undertake a broader range of work for Spanish companies and banks.”

Irastorza said: “I believe I will be able to develop a first rate practice in relation to both inward investment into Spain and investment by Spanish companies and banks in the UK and other parts of the world in which Denton Hall operates.”

John Griffith-Jones, business development director, said: “I have been very impressed by what they have achieved in a short time.”

Among the markets Irastorza's team will explore are privatisation and infrastructure projects in South America and the Phillipines.
