The College of Law is to open a new branch in Moorgate to run its new bespoke City LPC courses.
Due to open next July, the new branch, to be located in Gavrelle House, Bunhill Row, will be London’s largest law school with 1,000 students.
Its rival, BPP Law School, opened its London branch in Waterloo last year to run its GDL. It will run its City LPC as the exclusive provider to the five-firm consortium comprising Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith, Lovells, Norton Rose and Slaughter and May at its existing Red Lion Square branch.
Linklaters partner and College of Law governor Sir Robert Finch commented: “The college will be working closely with the firms and the City institutions and will be at the heart of the general boom of global legal activity.”
Nigel Savage, chief executive officer of the College of Law, said: “This exciting venture enables us to build on our already successful relationship with City firms.”
The new branch will also provide several professional development programmes, while the existing Store Street branch will concentrate on commercial and private programmes.
Simmons & Simmons handled the legal work for the new College of Law building.
