Smiths Group calls on ICI lawyer after GC exit

UK technology company Smiths Group has hired former ICI legal chief Michael Herlihy as its interim general counsel following the departure of head lawyer David Lillycrop.


UK ;technology company Smiths Group has hired former ICI legal chief Michael Herlihy as its interim general counsel following the departure of head lawyer David Lillycrop.

Herlihy has stepped in from legal consultancy Jomati after Lillycrop’s resignation, which was prompted ;by ;Smiths restructuring its management and dropping his role from the board.

Lillycrop had held the role since 2000, when Smiths merged with TI Group. The move comes as the company considers relocating abroad for tax reasons.

Smiths chief executive Philip ;Bowman ;said: “David’s made a significant contribution to the business over many years and the board recognises the valuable service he’s provided. We wish him well.”
