Exeter-based Michelmores has launched a development programme for non-partners who want to develop their management and leadership skills.
Seven assistants from six specialisms have been selected for the associate development programme (ADP) after undergoing a rigorous selection process.
This comprised submitting a written proposal supported by a statement from relevant department heads followed by a 15-minute presentation and a panel interview on legal and non-legal topics such as client services, marketing, business acumen and leadership and management.
Michelmores practice director Andrew Lovell said: “Michelmores has a history of helping staff develop their legal skills and this has now been supplemented by a structured programme to assist the development of other skills, such as business development, management and leadership.
“Our intention is to provide ambitious assistant solicitors with much greater clarity of where and how they need to develop, and assistance to do so.”
The associates selected are Stephen Clegg (litigation), Sally Rice and Joe Gribble (both commercial property), Chris Close (private client), Tim Davies (employment), Bernadette McGhie (clinical negligence) and Mark Howard (environmental law and planning).
