Pinsent Masons is set to vacate its Dashwood House premises for new office space at CityPoint, in the first stage of the firm’s plan to unite staff under one roof after merging in 2004.
The firm has announced it will sublease a newly refurbished 41,000 sq ft floor from Simmons & Simmons at CityPoint in Ropemaker St.
More than 500 staff will relocate to the new office, including 104 partners and 225 lawyers.
The lease runs until 2015, but Pinsent Masons could exercise a break option in 2009 if it finds an office big enough to accommodate all London-based staff.
Construction partner Martin Roberts said the move would reduce the number of London’s offices from four to two.
He said City practices such as corporate and banking and finance would be likely to move to the new office.
“We eventually want all of our London staff under the one roof,” he said. “We’re considering mixing some of the staff up – we did that after the merger and it worked well – but that’s not been decided yet.”
It is understood the firm is in talks with Land Securities, among others, to take a prelet of a 100,000 sq ft office at New Street Square on New Fetter Lane.
