Leave has been given for an appeal and cross appeal in respect of decisions in a case in which company director William Johnson sued solicitors Gore Wood & Co. Johnson's company had already sued Gore Wood accusing the firm of negligence. That claim had been settled. Johnson sought to mount a further claim personally, alleging that the firm wrongly advised him of the time and ease of bringing a High Court claim in respect of purchase of a plot of land. He claimed that the litigation took a number of years during which time the value of the property in question had taken a considerable drop. The High Court refused to strike out Johnson's claim as an abuse of the court process, but that decision was later reversed by the Court of Appeal. Now though, that decision is to come under the scrutiny of the law lords.
