Byford is to leave the firm accompanied by associates Zoe Holland and Emma O’Kane.
Morgan Lewis’s former London managing partner Bob Goldspink, a litigator, retired last year (The Lawyer, 24 September 2009). His successor Charles Lubar told The Lawyer that Morgan Lewis would align the London and US strategies by focusing on corporate, employment and energy.
Byford said: “We’ve all enjoyed our time with Morgan Lewis, but with Bob moving on we decided it was time for a change.”
Eversheds litigation head Ian Gray said the hires were central to the firm’s plans to develop further its share of the international disputes market.
“This is the eighth new partner hire we’ve made in the past 18 months and we’ll continue to expand further,” he promised.
