Collas Day moots Jersey launch as part of expansion strategy

The firm has spent most of the past year bolstering its ranks, bringing in three new fee-earners for its commercial practice. Now it intends to break with tradition by opening in Guernsey’s closest rival jurisdiction.

“We’re still considering options in Jersey and moving there is still a key part of our strategy,” said partner Jason Romer. “The Channel Islands are white-listed by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and the move supports our wider plan to expand our reach globally.

“We’ve looked at tying up with Caribbean firms, but are pleased in light of recent developments that we’ve decided against that.”

Like many offshore firms Collas Day has set its sights on work coming out of India, China, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Last year the firm opened in London to improve its relations with City firms.
