Andrew Reid offers further proof, if it were needed, that lawyers do not always conform to traditional stereotypes.
Reid is the founder and senior partner of Mayfair firm Reid Minty. In between running his firm, he is busy as London’s only professional racehorse trainer, with over 137 flat winners being trained out of his Mill Hill stables in the last five years.
An example of a recent success is the home born, bred and trained chestnut gelding ‘Eccentric’, which has just won the Lingfield Derby all-weather trial. This led to Reid winning this year’s title of Lingfield’s All-Weather Champion Trainer, taking home the £18,000 prize for his stable and staff.
Unfortunately, Reid was not available last week to comment, or more importantly to provide a much-needed inside track on the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Tulkinghorn, once again, is not counting his winnings this week.
