Clifford Chance’s New York office has secured a coup with the hire of Elaine Laurence, the former Goldman Sachs legal director and associate general counsel.

Laurence joins the firm’s New York office as a partner in the litigation and dispute resolution group, specialising in advising financial services institutions on intellectual property and technology issues.

The hire comes as the UK firm looks to rebuild its litigation and dispute resolution practice in New York following a series of high profile departures. It is understood the firm is in talks with a number of potential hires in the securities litigation and bankruptcy arena.
