A man who claims a hospital failed to open an operating theatre in time to treat his injuries is suing for compensation. James Drew, 22, of Fleet, Hampshire, claims that as a result he will need a total hip replacement and other operations. He is suing Ashford Hospital NHS Trust for damages, claiming it was negligent in failing to open a second operating theatre at Ashford Hospital and failing to promptly reduce his fractured and dislocated right hip after an accident in April 1996. Drew, who is represented by Blake Lapthorn of Portsmouth, claims that as a result of the delay he developed femoral head necrosis and chrondrolysis, and will need a total hip replacement. He is also seeking damages, including being disadvantaged on the labour market.
