Fulbright & Jaworski has finally appointed replacements to chair its international department, nearly six months after the former incumbent stepped down.
Mark Baker, co-chair of the international arbitration group, and Jeffrey Blount, partner in charge of Ful-bright’s Hong Kong office, will co-chair the international group.
They replace Steven Pfeiffer, who was elected as chairman of the executive committee in January. Prior to this appointment, Pfeiffer was the partner in charge of Ful-bright’s Washington DC and London offices and chaired the international department.
The international department at the Texas-based firm includes 110 lawyers throughout the US, Europe and Asia, and spans a range of practice areas covering dispute resolution, transactional and commercial matters.
As well as co-chairing the group, Blount will head the new Asia Pacific practice with David Levy, a Houston-based dispute resolution partner, whose experience includes acting for clients in Asia.
Overall, in terms of international growth, Fulbright has so far taken a cautious approach to Europe.
As well as London, which comprises one partner and two senior lawyers, the firm has one other base in Europe, opening in Munich a year ago (The Lawyer, 29 July 2002).
