Charles Russell boosts core TMT, private client and charities areas

Charles Russell has gone on a hiring spree in its core areas of media and technology, private client and charities, taking on three partners and a consultant.
The firm has hired Pinsents Birmingham head of personal tax and trusts Stephen Pallister, Gordon Dadds media litigator Patrick Gearon and former DJ Freeman IT partner David Schollenberger as partners.
It has also taken on former Charity Commission executive legal commissioner Michael Carpenter as a consultant.
Schollenberger was one of the few remaining partners still to find a home following the dissolution of DJ Freeman and the launch of Kendall Freeman from its insurance and construction department on 1 May this year.
Most of DJ Freeman’s technology, media and telecoms partners moved to Olswang, but The Lawyer understands that Olswang decided it did not need any more IT partners.
Pallister and Gearon are thought to be moving to Charles Russell for relocation reasons and will split their time between the Cheltenham and London offices.
Carpenter left the Charity Commission last October. He has also been head of private client at Slaughter and May and a partner at Withers.
